The event will feature performances by students from several Calgary flamenco schools alongside professional artists including singer/dancer/flamencologist Silvia Temis, Francesca Canalizo, Anastassia Alexander, Daniela Crestani and Alma Viva Dance, guitarist Michael Boyle, Tosh Hayashi, David Matyas, Jorge Villena, and other leading flamenco artists and educators from the local community. The program will also feature performances by award winning Calgary flamenco fusion ensemble Notas de 4, local world music favourites La Mosca, and Edmonton guitarist David Jay the Spaniard.
The celebration culminates with a traditional Flamenco Jaleo, bringing together dancers, musicians, singers, and audience members in the spontaneous and communal spirit of flamenco.
Beyond the performances, Patio Flamenco invites audiences to experience the broader traditions of flamenco culture through family-friendly arts + crafts, participatory activities, workshops, food, and artisan vendors. By combining live music, dance, cultural experiences, and community participation, the event creates an accessible entry point for audiences who may be unfamiliar with flamenco while fostering intercultural connection and appreciation for this historically rich Spanish art form.
Curated by Silvia Temis and programmed by Calgary Flamenco.
